Through our community service work and in conjunction with Nederland Police Department, we have sponsored a Fishing Derby "Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs" to help teach our children to stay away from drugs. This year saw 281 children fishing for trout and winning prizes. Another favorite project with the kids is "I LIKE ME" Kindergarten books. Individualized books are presented to all kindergarten kids. The books include the individuals name, teacher's names, friend's names and other personal information. The children can keep these books. At Christmas the Club gives gifts of shoes and clothing to less fortunate children selected by school counselors.
